Thursday Randomness

In the week or so since I finished Ironman Lake Placid, I have been in a bit of a happy fog.   Since I can’t seem to form a complete thought, here is some random stuff!

Random Thing #1

My coach is amazing.   First of all, she got me from a nervous wreck in November to the start line of IMLP full of confidence and ready to roll on July 24th.  Ange, thank you so so much!

But enough about me, lets talk a little more about her day at IMLP.

Because it was simply. Amazing.

Ange bringing it in to 1st place AG win at IMLP

Ange finished in 10:19:21

  • 1st in her Age Group
  • 2nd Overall Woman amateur
  • 7th overall woman (pros and amateurs combined)
  • 83rd overall (she beat 5 pro men!)
AND yes, she is KONA BOUND!  Congrats Ange!! I am so proud of you, your hard work really paid off!
Her race reports are so good, read them if you get a chance (SwimBikeRun)
Random Thing #2
And speaking of awesome, I was lucky enough to get to work the Maine Tri for a Cure  SBR Tri-Slide Pit Stop with the fabulous Jen!

Wow. I am short

It was so awesome to finally meet Jen after following her blog for so long.  Talk about positive, energetic and just plain ole FUN to be around!!  I wish we lived closer I think we are a pretty good match!   Hopefully we can get some training rides together either this fall or next spring.

She is currently training for Timberman 70.3 on August 21st (how many more days Jen?)

I know she is going to rock it!  I hope if all works out I can get there to hang out with her, Chrissie Wellington, and Chris Leito.   Until then, GO JEN!!

Random Thing #3

John and I are getting a puppy!

It is kind of a big thing for me.  I miss Bailey so much every day (I always will), and some days I think I am not ready, other times I think I am.  We decided it was time, but still I struggle with starting over and letting this new boy into my heart.

This little dude is going to be awesome in his very own way.

Adena knows all of this, and gave me the coolest pre-race present EVER.   She gave me a gift certificate for a Scout ID!!  I was so excited because I was definitely going to get one for the new guy.  Adena, thank you so so much!

AND. I have a gift code here to share with you all – it can be used for $1 off any Road ID product (this can be used up to 20 times, once per customer).

The code is: ThanksAmanda8171932

Oh yeah.  The pup.  It is one of these (I know which one, but I am not telling. HINT – he has a nubby tail):

  1. OMG, those pups are soooooo cute. i would end up bringing them all home!

holy cow, your coach IS amazing, WOW!!!!!

  2. I keep re-reading your race report, can you see me stalking you? haha

I am so excited for the PUPPY!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait! I may be just as excited as you. I hope you never need the scoutID but I feel better knowing he’s gonna be the coolest ironman pup around.

  3. Nubbin! I’m so excited and happy for you getting a puppy. My husband lost his St Bernard 4 months ago and it’s been hard for him to not have his constant companion…I really hope I can help him fix that when he’s ready 🙂

  4. I want them all!!! He is a cutie Mandy!

Can you believe that breeder has those puppies outside and not being supervised in a crate 24/7? Next thing you know she is going to take one of the pups to work or something even crazier!!!

  5. Awww. That’s going to be one lucky pup!!!!!

  6. NAW THE PUPPIES ARE SO CUTE!!

I want them all =) I think I know which one you picked, but look forward to seeing him at home all the same!

  7. Love the puppy video, Tamba can’t wait to meet him 🙂 We’re so excited.

  8. Our pets are always with us. I still have a picture of my childhood dog Spunky on my desk.

Nubbins is such a lucky dog to have found you. You two are going to have some great times together.

Does this mean the Muttley Monday is going to return? Or will there be a name change? Pooch Pictorial perhaps?

  9. Are you sure Lieto is going to be there? I wonder if Potts will be there again. That could be a fun race to watch.
Genine and I will both be at Timberman, send a note if you are able to make the trip.
A late congrats on your ironman finish. Your race report was awesome.

  10. I really think you need to keep the name nubbins. It’s too cute! 🙂
That’s awesome that you got the Scout ID. Perfect gift for you!

Your coach is bad ass for so many reasons! Congrats on getting to Kona Ange!

I can’t wait to meet Jen… hum… I guess it’ll be next year at IMAZ. Why do I have to wait that long???

  11. What a summer you’ve had, Mandy! Congrats on IMLP and opting for a new puppy, 2 major events.

  12. great news on the puppy! seems right with both you and John deciding its time would probably be a struggle no matter when you moved forward.

    must stop eating
    must start working out

    today!

    have a great wknd

    D

  13. aww, nubbins! hehe, so excited to “meet” your pup! tough decision for sure about when, but you’ve got space in your heart to love bailey and the new pup 🙂

loved reading ange’s recap, she is amazing!!

  14. That is awesome about your coach – she rocks on all accounts and I’m so pleased that you two are a great fit!

I love the puppies and I think you have so much love inside you for it AND Baily! Can’t wait to see tons of pics of the new guy!!! 🙂

  15. The Puppies are so cute! Of course Bailey is and will always be Bailey but I am sure that the new one will be another lovely and sweet friend.
Ange is amazing but you are her best “pupil”.
    Have a good week end.

  16. Congratulations on the new puppy! Bailey will think it a testament to how great a dog he was, that you’d welcome another dog into the house. Every one is different. None can replace any of the ones who have gone before, but enjoy the new journey you’re about to take.

  17. Nubbins! So cute!! 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing the coupon code for the Scout ID! I just finished ordering one for our Bailey. 🙂

  18. This is so awesome! Honestly, your coach seems pure awesome.

    Oh and puppy?! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 WHERE IS THE PUPPY COUNTDOWN ON YOUR BLOG?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  19. Ooooh, puppy love! They are so cute! Bailey will still be there in your heart, watching over, but the new pup will bring his own wonderful little self into your heart. Enjoy the process of having a newborn again!

  20. Nubbins!!!! Great name, don’t change it! They are all so adorable! I cannot wait until my son is old enough so we can have a dog again. Are these the ones you were telling me about at REV3? I think I would be hard pressed to choose one, but I think, like you I would have chosen Nubbins. I remember as a kid having a choice of teddy bears in a store and I chose the one that was sewn wrong. I felt like if I didn’t take him, no one would and he deserved a good home too. ha!
